Do I need a service location before I begin the credentialing process?
Applied Medical Systems
Yes, prior to initiating the medical credentialing and contracting process, providers are required to have an established physical place of service. Utilizing a home address as a clinic address, either on a permanent or temporary basis, is not permissible. While a home address can serve as a billing or correspondence address, a separate physical practice address is always required. Even if the office space is under construction, that future address can be used, and applications can typically be submitted up to 30 days before the official opening, this is a guideline shared by most commercial carriers.
